3 Daily Fantasy Football Players to Avoid in the Divisional Round
James White, RB, New England Patriots
FanDuel Salary: $4,500
The New England Patriots are an interesting team this weekend.
Favored by 300 points -- OK, so 15 -- they make for an attractive target, but outside of Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and LeGarrette Blount, it's kind of a crapshoot.
Michael Floyd, Malcolm Mitchell and Dion Lewis have some appeal, but one player it's hard to make a case for is James White.
White just isn't seeing the volume lately, with Lewis seemingly surpassing him on the depth chart. Typically thought of as a pass-game specialist, Lewis has been getting a significant amount of carries over the past three weeks, handling 45 rushing attempts in that span -- nearly besting Blount (51 carries) for the team lead.
White's usage pales in comparison to the other two Patriots backs.
Touches | Blount | Lewis | White |
---|---|---|---|
Week 17 | 14 | 13 | 6 |
Week 16 | 20 | 17 | 4 |
Week 15 | 17 | 20 | 6 |
White hasn't seen more than seven touches in a game since October 16th, a span of 10 games. Considering what Lewis has done with his opportunity, picking up 195 rushing yards (4.3 yards per carry) over that three-game stretch, it's hard to see a way, barring injury, White gets much work this weekend.
Rostering him is really just a minimum-salary dart throw, hoping for a touchdown, and he's only scored once in the past six games.
