Fantasy Football: 5 Running Backs Who Easily Outperformed Their 2016 Preseason Rankings

Rob Kelley wasn't even a blip on the fantasy radar heading into the season. The undrafted rookie was among four players listed as the fourth running back on the Washington Redskins' first preseason depth chart.

Kelley did show some potential in the preseason, earning a roster spot with 198 rushing yards and 1 touchdown in 4 games. That's why two websites -- Yahoo and CBS -- actually ranked him in their preseason top 200.

He saw very limited action until starter Matt Jones went down with a knee injury in Week 7. He made his first NFL start in Week 8, and it was memorable for many reasons. He ran for 87 yards and 1 touchdown before a sellout crowd of 84,488 in London in a game that ended in a tie.

Kelley proceeded to average more than 5 yards a carry and help the Redskins win six of their next seven games. That average dropped to 3.3 in his final six games, though.

Still, he led the Redskins with 704 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns in only 7 starts. He didn't show much pass-catching ability with only 12 receptions, but one of them finished in the end zone.

Kelley finished 27th among running backs in standard-league scoring. That's not bad for a back who only had 17 carries heading into Week 8 of his rookie season.
