3. Atlanta Has a Lot of Weapons

Historically, the Patriots have been pretty adept at taking away a team's top option, but it's the way Ryan spread the ball around this season -- especially to his running backs -- that makes this offense so difficult to defend.

According to our Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, the Falcons feature two of the league's most efficient runners. Out of 22 running backs who carried the ball at least 100 times, Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman ranked 4th and 8th, respectively, in Rushing NEP per play.

Atlanta's backfield tandem got it done through the air, as well. Among backs to see at least 40 targets, Coleman checked in 1st and Freeman was 11th in Reception NEP per target.

Even though Ryan's got one of the game's best wideouts in Julio Jones, he is more than willing to utilize every option in the offense. Overall, Ryan dropped back 571 times in 2016, and he targeted 8 different players at least 30 times.

Speaking of Jones, when he is targeted, he balls out. Among wideouts with at least 100 targets, Julio ranks first in Reception NEP per target.

It's a small sample size, but the Falcons' tight ends got in on the act, too. Among tight ends to see at least 15 targets, Levine Toilolo and Austin Hooper ranked 2nd and 4th, respectively, in Reception NEP per target.
