12. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (2009)

Speaking of great back-to-back seasons, Rivers had a few of his own. We already know about his 2008 campaign, but in the next year, Rivers was even better. He averaged 8.3 ANY/A and accumulated a passer rating of 104.4 in 16 games.

The 28-year-old threw for 28 touchdowns, 4,254 yards and led the league with 13.4 yards per completion. San Diego won 13 games that season, but, of course, lost to the Jets their first playoff matchup.
