18. Barry Sanders, Detroit Lions (1997)

In his next-to-last NFL season, Barry Sanders racked up the most yards (2,053) and yards per attempt (6.13) for a single season in his 10-year career. For his efforts, he was named First-Team All-Pro and the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year.

In terms of yards per rush, Sanders enjoyed the best season of all running backs to tally an AV of exactly 19. Overall, he accounted for 2,358 yards and 14 touchdowns in one of many disappointing Lions seasons.
