Carolina Panthers

Needs Entering Draft: RB, IOL, OT, DE, CB
Positions Drafted: RB, WR, IOL, DE, CB

The Carolina Panthers treated the 2017 Draft like it was a shopping list: simply walking through the aisles, scooping up what they needed, and checking it off their list. At eighth overall, they grabbed their running back/wide receiver/offensive chess piece of the future in Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey. Slot receiver Curtis Samuel was another value pick and an interesting talent differentiation for a team that has a ton of massive outside wideouts. Guard Taylor Moton is a step in the right direction for this offensive line, but it seemed like they needed more than one lineman here.

Defensive end Daeshon Hall will get to sit behind Julius Peppers for one year and then should be a force in this 4-3 front come 2018; he’s a third-round steal. Cornerback Corn Elder is a bit small to play anything other than the slot, but he has the tenacious fight of other former Panthers’ slot men -- think Captain Munnerlyn -- but more juice.
