Houston Texans
Needs Entering Draft: QB, IOL, OT, DT
Positions Drafted: QB, RB, IOL, OT, DT, ILB, S
After trading the Browns a bundle of picks to rid themselves of Brock Osweiler and move up in the draft, the Houston Texans are hoping quarterback Deshaun Watson, who they snagged at 12th overall, is their passer of the future. Julie’n Davenport and Kyle Fuller will both help to plug the offensive line in time, and add extra rotational depth to aid the running game. In addition, running back D’Onta Foreman will spell Lamar Miller between the tackles and give a big-time battering ram to this offense. Carlos Watkins isn’t a Vince Wilfork-style nose tackle, but he adds another pass-rushing body to this front-seven.
Linebacker Zach Cunningham was probably a value selection and an effort to get in front of Brian Cushing's advancing age, but he wasn’t a necessity for the Texans. With how much the Texans have invested in the secondary of late, Treston DeCoud also was more of a luxury pick than anything else, but Houston didn’t miss any of their needs.
