In the eyes of approximate value (and yours truly), Faulk's MVP honor came a year too late. As a matter of fact, his AV of 25 in 1999 is tied for the second-best mark of any season since 1960.

On 253 rushes, Faulk counted 1,381 yards, 7 touches and an average of 5.5 yards per attempt. But his receiving was even better, as the 26-year-old turned out career-highs in catches (87), receiving yards (1,048) and catch rate (84.5%).

For the year, Faulk led the league with 2,429 yards from scrimmage, a figure that ranks second all-time among running backs since the merger. Furthermore, Faulk is just one of two players to ever rush and receive for 1,000 yards in a single season, having outgained Roger Craig by 363 yards in doing so.

On the back of Faulk's legendary season, the Rams won Super Bowl XXXIV. And thanks to awe-inspiring plays like this, Faulk's greatness lives far beyond the days of the Greatest Show on Turf.
