Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints

It’s crowded in the New Orleans Saints backfield with Mark Ingram, Adrian Peterson, and Alvin Kamara. But don't let the fact that there are a lot of mouths to feed in New Orleans steer you away from Kamara late in drafts.

Kamara offers a unique receiving skillset that complements Ingram and Peterson -- over his two seasons at Tennessee, he caught 74 passes for 683 yards and 7 touchdowns. Earlier this offseason, there were reports that Kamara has been splitting time working with the running backs and receivers, an indication that the Saints plan on utilizing him as a receiver, too.

Last season, Travaris Cadet caught 40 passes out of the Saints’ backfield -- just six fewer than Ingram -- and head coach Sean Payton has been known to utilize his backs as receivers frequently. From 2011 to 2013, Darren Sproles saw at least 89 targets in each season and never had fewer than 71 receptions.

It’s too early to anoint him the next Sproles, but the opportunity is there after the Saints traded significant draft capital -- a 2018 second-round pick -- to move up and draft Kamara.
