30 Fantasy Football Bold Predictions for the 2017 Season
Andy Dalton Will Finish as a Top-6 Quarterback
Why This Is Bold: Dalton is being drafted as QB18. And he's a ginger.
Why This Will Happen: Had Andy Dalton thrown at his career touchdown rate last season, he would've finished the year with close to 26 touchdown passes, making him a fringe top-five quarterback in fantasy. Instead, he tossed just 18 scores with a career low 3.2% touchdown rate.
A huge reason for that was the lack of A.J. Green, who missed six games due to injury, as well as tight end Tyler Eifert, who was out for half the year. Over Dalton's career, he's averaged a 5.59% touchdown rate when Eifert and Green have been on the field at the same time. A 5.59% touchdown rate is good. Very good. So good that, with such a rate on the same number of attempts as last year (563), Dalton would have had a 31-touchdown season.
The Bengals offensive line is questionable entering the year, but the team added two weapons in John Ross and Joe Mixon in the first two rounds of the draft, and both Green and Eifert are healthy.
Dalton's got a high ceiling this year.
