...and the Dallas Cowboys Defense Is Missing in Action

Sean Lee missed the entire 2014 season for the Dallas Cowboys after tearing his ACL in OTAs. He returned the following year and, including last week against the Los Angeles Rams, has missed only three games for medical reasons since.

In those three games, Dallas allowed an average 274.3 yards and 8.14 yards per attempt to opposing quarterbacks. Running backs also flourished in those three contests, averaging 132.3 yards and 4.61 yards per carry.

Jared Goff (49.33) trails only Tom Brady (60.77) in Passing NEP added to their respective teams this season. Having said that, it makes sense that Goff flummoxed Dallas' defense with ease. Goff, however, isn't Aaron Rodgers and doesn't captain an offense with two receivers ranked top-7 in Receiving NEP. Worse is that Lee has yet to practice heading into the Cowboys' Week 5 contest against the Green Bay Packers.

If Lee is ruled out again, expect Dallas' 24th ranked unit in Adjusted Defensive NEP per play to fall even further towards the bottom of the league.
