Week 5 FanDuel NFL Tournament Pivots
Wide Receiver
Chalk:
This appears to be a week in which most daily fantasy players will prefer to spend up at the running back position.
However, guys such as A.J. Green and Dez Bryant, who are just outside the elite price-range, could be trendy picks. Even without Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton proved he could still go off in elite matchups, so he could see some ownership against the San Francisco 49ers. Just below Hilton in price are Larry Fitzgerald, Jarvis Landry, and Randall Cobb, all of whom should be popular plays this week.
Pivots:
DeVante Parker, $6,100 (vs. Tennessee Titans): DeVante Parker is in the same boat as Ajayi, in that Miami's recent offensive ineptitude should be enough to keep his ownership lower than it should be. If playing any Dolphin, daily fantasy owners are likely to just side with the safe option and chase Landry's 11 targets per game.
Parker doesn't boast a double-digit target average, but his nine targets are nothing to be ashamed of. He has also seen much higher-equity targets, as his 43% market share of the team's air yards ranks second in the league and dwarfs Landry's 17%. While Landry may be the safer cash-game option, we want someone like Parker for a pivot in tournaments since he sees higher-upside downfield targets.
He has the potential to put up huge numbers in a juicy matchup against a Tennessee pass defense ranked 29th according to our opponent-adjusted Net Expected Points (NEP) metric.
Aldrick Robinson, $4,600 (at Indianapolis Colts): Aldrick Robinson doesn't come as a direct pivot from the chalk, but rather a way to differntiate your lineups. The preseason standout sneakily saw 12 targets for the San Francisco 49ers last week, and could again be a target hog if Marquise Goodwin is forced to miss this weekend's game.
If Goodwin sits, then this would be the perfect opportunity for Robinson to shine, as the Niners take on a weak Indianapolis Colts secondary. Be sure to keep an eye on this situation leading up to kickoff, because he could become one of the best values on the slate, but isn't likely to carry much ownership, which is the perfect recipe for an excellent tournament play.
