Fantasy Football: 4 Things We Learned From Week 6
Is Adrian Peterson a Phoenix or a Zombie?
In classic Adrian Peterson fashion, he's beaten the odds. You can just never count AD out, right?
In his first start as an Arizona Cardinal, Peterson tore up the Buccaneers defense for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns on 26 carries. This result was shocking considering the Cardinals' offensive line woes, but not necessarily unpredictable; as Ian Goldsmith pointed out last week, Peterson thrives when given 15 or more carries in a game.
The Cards gave David Johnson 15 or more carries in 11 of their 17 games last year, so that workload isn't exactly unprecedented for an Arizona running back.
So can we expect this going forward? Is Peterson a phoenix rising from the ashes, or was this a zombified last hurrah? It's tough to say for certain, but the Cardinals played Peterson on 78.7 percent of their offensive snaps. It was a positive game script for them in a matchup where Jameis Winston left early with a shoulder injury, but his high snap count is a good indicator that he will at least have a solid floor when it comes to his opportunity share until Johnson returns.
Look for Peterson to continue dominating in games where the Cardinals are favorites, and enjoy every snap of his umpteenth comeback while it lasts.
