Don't Forget About Doug Martin
Rookie corner Marshon Lattimore and defensive end Cameron Jordan both rank first overall at their respective positions, according to PFF. The breakouts of these two young stars, though, have overshadowed a glaring weakness for the New Orleans Saints.
Despite the play of these two, New Orleans is still hemorrhaging 4.9 yards per carry to opposing running backs and rank dead last in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP. That's great news for Doug Martin, who should not only benefit from playing indoors in the always friendly Superdome, but remains the lead runner for a Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense that averages the fourth-most combined plays per game.
And if you're concerned about game script for the Bucs, don't be. Martin has averaged a 56.94% snap share among Tampa Bay's backfield the last three games, leading the team with 52 carries (17.3 per game) in that span. If anything, this is an ideal matchup as long as Tampa Bay stays within one score.
Given that the total in this game is the second-highest of the weekend (51.5), it's worth monitoring the line Sunday morning to see if Tampa Bay garners sharp money and moves from being 6.5-point underdogs on the road.
