Start Stephen Gostkowski as a Favorite

Our own Jim Sannes wrote a very useful article on how kickers performed based on measures such as Vegas spreads, implied totals, and favorites versus underdogs. Based on his findings, we need to target kickers on heavily-favored teams, with implied team total as the tiebreaker.

This week, the New England Patriots are favored by 6.5 points. They also have the highest implied total of all teams at 30.5 points. This is all good news for kicker Stephen Gostkowski. GOATkowski is always a viable target at kicker, but things really line up well for him this Sunday.

According to Sannes, kickers on teams favored by 5-9.5 points scored an average of 8.74 points per game between 2012 and 2014. And when kickers are on teams with an implied total of 30 points or more, they scored an average of 9.77 fantasy points.

Gostkowski is pricey at $5,100, second among kickers on FanDuel. If you have the extra money, though, feel confident in spending it here.
