3 NFL Storylines to Watch in Week 13
Stefon Diggs, Ready to Catch Fire in Hotlanta
The 9-2 Minnesota Vikings look to keep pace with the 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC's best record in order to secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. They'll need some assistance from the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football to do that, but first, the Vikings will need to earn a victory on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
Atlanta's pass defense currently sits in the middle of numberFire's schedule adjusted metrics, which is a downgrade from how their secondary performs when viewed solely through raw fantasy points per game. Using FanDuel's half-point PPR scoring format, Atlanta sits inside the top 10 in limiting fantasy production to wide receivers.
That could be difficult to keep up since cornerback Desmond Trufant is still in the concussion protocol as of Thursday's practice report. For Minnesota, Adam Thielen surpassed 1,000 receiving yards last week, which has understandably cast a shadow over Stefon Diggs, who missed multiple weeks with a groin injury.
However, when Diggs has been on the field, he's been a central part of the Vikings' offense. He's also been highly efficient -- looking at numberFire's Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, Diggs leads all wide receivers with at least 60 targets in Reception NEP per target (0.97).
According to airyards.com, he's seen a 33 percent market share of Minnesota's air yards. Thielen has a five-percentage-point advantage over Diggs in this category, making the Vikings one of only four teams to have two pass-catchers over 30 percent.
