Quarterback: Josh McCown, New York Jets
Josh McCown, QB, New York Jets
26 for 36, 331 Yards, 1 Touchdown
7 Rushes, 19 Yards, 2 Touchdowns
Performance Score: 99
The New York Jets, who some felt were a potential candidate to go 0-16, are the perhaps the worst tanking team in sports history, thanks in part to the performance of quarterback Josh McCown.
The journeyman signal caller has had the best season in his career at the age of 38, as the Jets continue to defy the odds and win games they have no business winning. He was sensational on Sunday, throwing for 331 yards and scoring 3 touchdowns as the Jets upset the Chiefs 38-31.
After falling behind 14-0 early, McCown and his teammates didn't quit, consistently exploiting former Jet Darrelle Revis and the Chiefs secondary as McCown put up a Performance Score of 99. On the day, he posted a Passing NEP of 20.76 and a Rushing NEP of 5.99 as he carried the ball 7 times for 19 yards and 2 of his touchdowns.
As JJ Zachariason pointed out, McCown now has five weekly quarterback performances of QB7 or better over his last seven games, while Matt Ryan has exactly zero weekly quarterback performances of QB9 or better over his entire 2017 season. McCown has 15 touchdowns and only 3 turnovers in his last six games and has totaled more fantasy points than Dak Prescott, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan or Philip Rivers.
