The enigmatic Jared Cook was at it again on Sunday, busting out of a slump just when we stopped trusting him for what feels like the 20th time this season. After notching just 4 receptions for 47 yards total over his past three weeks, Cook was great on Sunday with 5 catches for 75 yards and a touchdown.
He was our top performing tight end of the week with a score of 84 and a Reception NEP of 10.06, although much of that came in garbage time as the Oakland Raiders attempted to overcome a 26-0 deficit in the fourth quarter. With this passing game in complete disarray, Cook was the lone bright spot on the day.
Still, given his weekly volatility, Cook is difficult to trust as anything more than a desperation play in fantasy leagues. His athleticism allows him to make game-changing plays, but his tendency to disappear for long stretches makes him a less-than-ideal starting option.
