5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 15
Marquise Goodwin Has Averaged 11.0 Targets Over the Past 3 Games
We mentioned Jimmy Garoppolo's recent form in last week's edition of this column, and he continued to fire on all cylinders in Week 14, completing 31 of 43 passes for 381 yards and a touchdown.
But another San Francisco 49er who has stood out recently -- and certainly benefited from Garoppolo taking over under center -- is Marquise Goodwin.
In the three games since Garoppolo took over as the starting quarterback, Goodwin has averaged 11.0 targets for 8.0 receptions and 106.3 receiving yards per game, with at least 99 yards in each of those. His 29.73% target share over that span is the seventh-best of any wide receiver in the league and represents a 12.01% increase over his season average.
Goodwin has been one of the hottest pickups for fantasy football teams making a playoff run. But in Week 16, the 49ers' hot new passing duo will have to face off with the Jacksonville Jaguars, whose -0.15 Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play leads the NFL.
Goodwin's ceiling will be capped, as the only wide receiver all season to catch more than 7 passes or tally 100-plus receiving yards against Jacksonville this season was Antonio Brown in Week 5.
The good news for Goodwin is that the Jaguars have allowed four wide receivers to record at least 70 receiving yards and a touchdown over their past two games alone.
