10 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets Heading Into Week 17

They may have laid an egg in Week 16 against the Bengals, but with a Week 17 matchup on tap against the Green Bay Packers, ignoring the Detroit D/ST could be a big mistake.

Looking at the Lions' Week 17 opponent, the Brett Hundley-led Pack were just blanked on their home turf, and this offense that has some serious issues with Aaron Rodgers out of the picture. While the Minnesota Vikings certainly possess a fantastic defensive unit -- ranked fifth by our metrics -- Green Bay generated only 239 yards of total offense in a Week 16 loss. Using the RotoViz Game Splits App, the Packers are averaging about nine points per game less with Hundley under center this season.

And prior to the poor Week 16 showing, Detroit's defensive unit had been playing well. They had reached double-digit fantasy points in each of their last two contests, forcing eight turnovers and sacking the quarterback five times in that span. With Hundley turning the ball over 11 times against 10 touchdowns this season, the Lions' D could be in for a big final week.
