Coach of the Year: Sean McVay (18)

Runner-ups: Bill Belichick (1), Mike Zimmer (1)

This was the biggest runaway win of all the awards.

What Sean McVay did with the Rams this season was nothing short of spectacular. The talent was there with the likes of Gurley and Jared Goff, but getting success from that talent was something Jeff Fisher couldn’t do in 2016. This year, Los Angeles had the 7th-ranked offense and 10th-ranked defense, per our numbers.

Overall, the Rams went from 32nd in our nERD metric last season (-12.03) to seventh this year (6.58). Los Angeles played like one of the best teams in the league for much of the season and won the NFC West. McVay’s ability to scheme the most out of the offense was the biggest reason for that improvement.
