Super Bowl Winner: New England Patriots (9)

We also asked our voters to pick the Super Bowl winner. The New England Patriots came out on top in the votes, and they also have the best Super Bowl odds, per our models, at 25.3 percent.

Despite finishing eighth in nERD, New England’s odds are so high thanks to a relatively weak AFC field. With home-field advantage, the Patriots have the easiest path to the Super Bowl, which helps their cause.

Minnesota comes in second, and the Vikings are also second in our odds (18.5 percent). Minnesota has the eighth-best offense and second-best defense and should head into the playoffs as the most complete, healthy team.

Nick Foles has unfortunately taken away all the optimism from the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite the Eagles finishing as the only team with their offense and defense both ranked in the top five, according to our metrics, they received no votes due to the play of their backup quarterback down the stretch.
