Fantasy Football: 7 Sleeper Quarterbacks to Target in 2018

Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins

Ryan Tannehill is one of the deeper sleepers at the quarterback position. He's more someone you're going to want to look at in a deep league (big rosters or more than 12 teams) or those with a superflex spot or two quarterbacks. But deep sleeper or not, he is criminally underpriced in offseason drafts.

Fantasy Football Calculator doesn't even list him in their 12-team ADP data, which includes 29 quarterbacks. In MFL10 leagues, he's going as the 28th quarterback off the board, and according to TwoQBs.com's ADP data, he is going as QB31 in that format.

Looking at his past fantasy finishes, though, Tannehill has never finished worse than QB26 on a per-game basis, and the only time he finished worse than 24th overall was in 2016, when he was limited to 13 games and still finished 27th.

Tannehill has been far more efficient throwing to the likes of DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills than he has to Jarvis Landry, both from a real-world and fantasy standpoint. This means that the departure of Landry could actually prove to be a boon to his fantasy value.

On average, targets to both Parker and Stills generated better than 0.50 fantasy points per attempt, while targets to Landry only earned him 0.38 per attempt. We've seen a similar trend in our signature Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, too. Since 2014, Tannehill's Passing NEP per drop back when targeting Landry has been 0.20, compared to 0.22 to the rest of his wideouts in that time.

With a proven track record of outperforming his current draft cost, as well as an array of weapons that could improve his efficiency, Tannehill has no business going off the board this late. --Jason Schandl
