Mike Gesicki, TE, Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins hyped up their rookie tight end Michael Gesicki's receiving skills all through training camp, including saying he was ready for a “starter-like role”. As it turns out, coach Adam Gase wasn’t lying: Gesicki played most of the team’s offensive snaps.

Unfortunately for fantasy owners, improved blocking and snap counts aren’t what matter on the virtual gridiron.

Gesicki saw just two targets, catching one for 11 yards. This is a classic game-managed offense, with quarterback Ryan Tannehill attempting just 28 passes out of 57 offensive plays. While Gesicki has big-time receiving ability and the athletic tools to make something out of his catches, he simply doesn’t have his quarterback’s eye yet and is in a low-octane passing attack.

Even at a depleted fantasy position, there are likely better options.
