John Brown, WR, Baltimore Ravens

Yahoo Ownership: 25%

If you heeded my offseason advice, John Brown is not on your waiver wire right now. But if you're in the 75% of leagues in which he is available, you should snatch him up while you still can.

I outlined in that article why Brown has the potential to be the team's top fantasy wideout as well as why, even if he is the number-two on the Baltimore Ravens, he could still return some value in fantasy. And that's what has been happening as he sits only one target behind Michael Crabtree for the team lead.

Crabtree is out-snapping Brown by a decent margin (76.4% to 69.7%), but like I said, that has led to just a one-target difference. If we look at the type of looks they're seeing, Brown's are also far more valuable for fantasy football. His 19.1-yard average depth of target (aDOT) is nearly 9 yards higher than Crabtree's 10.2. Despite owning a 15% of the Ravens' targets (to Crabtree's 17%), Brown accounts for 33% of their air yards (the total depth of targets). His four targets in the red zone are also twice as many as anyone else on the team has seen.

So Brown is the team's top deep threat when they're far from the end zone, and then once they get inside the 20, they're happy to target him on shorter routes. That helps explain the two touchdowns in two games.

The Ravens have boasted a high-volume passing attack so far, with Joe Flacco notching 34 attempts in a blowout-shortened Week 1 game and 55 in comeback mode in Week 2. That volume means that even with a modest target market share, Brown should get plenty of opportunities to continue producing big fantasy numbers.
