New York Jets Defense

Yahoo Ownership: 34%

As of writing, we still have one game to go in Week 2. But for now, the New York Jets' defense is tied for sixth in the NFL this week with 9 fantasy points. This comes after a 26-fantasy-point performance in Week 1, which was good for the league lead.

That leaves them sitting in first in the NFL, with more than 14% more fantasy points than any other defense through two weeks.

Now, finding a strong defensive play is almost completely matchup-based. Just relying on past fantasy scoring at the position is likely to get you burned, even with a top-end unit.

However, making the Jets especially appealing this week is their matchup with Cleveland.

The Browns have put up scores that look respectable on the surface this year -- 21 points in Week 1 and 18 in Week 2 are nothing to scoff at -- but when you consider the defenses they played, those numbers lose a lot of their luster. The Steelers went on to allow 42 points and 6 touchdown passes in Week 2, while the Saints entered that game fresh off having allowed 48 points in Week 1.

The Jets have done damage with both their pass rush (four sacks) and with turnovers (five interceptions, two fumble recoveries), and they offer big upside in a plus matchup in Week 3.
