Tyler Boyd Is Breaking Out

Per the rules of NBA Jam, Tyler Boyd is now on fire. In Week 1, he established himself as the Cincinnati Bengals' second wideout with five targets. In Week 2, he smacked down on the Ravens for 91 yards and a touchdown. This past weekend, he exploded out of the gates for 132 yards and a score, putting him squarely in flames.

The team will likely need to lean on Boyd, too, if star receiver A.J. Green misses any time with the groin injury he suffered in the third quarter. Boyd led the team in air yards against the Panthers on the back of a whopping aDOT of 16.1. That's a huge number and bodes well for his future production.

That doesn't even mention Boyd's top-tier 30% market share of the team's total air yards so far this season. Only 28 players in 2017 had similar or higher shares of their teams' total air yards. In the last two games, he has the 11th-highest share of his team's targets, as well.

His route tree from Week 3 reiterates that while he is a slot receiver -- all seven of his targets came when he lined up in the slot -- he's not running only low-aDOT underneath routes. Even if Green is ready in time for the Bengals' Week 4 matchup against the Falcons, Boyd should continue to rip up the middle of the field as a reliable target for Andy Dalton.
