Andy Dalton, QB, Cincinnati Bengals
DraftKings Price: $5,400
Projected Points: 19.9
Projected Value (points per $1,000): 3.68
The word offense seemed to be absent from the Cincinnati Bengals' vocabulary last season. They ranked 24th in Adjusted Net Expected Points per pass and ranked 26th in points scored. One of the only moments of joy associated with their season happened when they beat the Baltimore Ravens in dramatic fashion to send the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs.
The Bengals seem to have renewed focus this year, however, and much of their success has been due to their quarterback, Andy Dalton. The Red Rifle is 8th in Passing NEP through three games this season; last year he ranked 24th out of quarterbacks with at least 200 drop backs. His 21.73 DraftKings points per game rank 11th. He has topped 20 points in 2 of his 3 games this season, already matching his 2017 total.
This week presents another opportunity for him to provide a ton of value in your lineup. The Bengals face off against the injury-plagued Atlanta Falcons defense this week. The Falcons were already without two of their better defensive players in linebacker Deion Jones and safety Keanu Neal. They'll now be without safety Ricardo Allen, who injured himself in overtime during last week's loss to the New Orleans Saints and was placed on injured reserve.
It's another devastating blow to a team that is last in the NFC South. The Falcons are giving up the fourth-most DraftKings points per game to quarterbacks this season, which actually sounds juicier than it is if you consider that they held Nick Foles to 6.08 points in Week 1.
The total of 51.0 points is the highest of any game on the main Sunday slate this week, so expect points to be flying. We project Dalton for 19.9 points this week, with an upside of 32.9. If you're looking to save cap space at quarterback this week, Dalton should be one of the first you consider.
