Courtland Sutton Will Score 2 Touchdowns

If you didn't look close enough, you would have missed it: Courtland Sutton has surpassed Demaryius Thomas as a Denver Broncos starting wide receiver. Sutton played 12 more snaps than Thomas in Sunday's blowout loss to the New York Jets, the first time all year he had done so.

The problem with Sutton this year hasn't been opportunity -- he's tied with Calvin Ridley for the second-most targets among rookie wide receivers with 26, trailing only Antonio Callaway and his 30 targets. He's even seeing elite usage in the red zone. Per PlayerProfiler.com, Sutton's 66.7% end zone target share is the second-highest mark in the league.

The issue thus far has been quarterback inefficiency. Just 65.4% of Sutton's targets have been deemed catchable at PlayerProfiler.com -- the 90th-ranked rate in the league -- while quarterback Case Keenum has struggled. When Sutton has caught his targets, he's reeling them in for a near-elite 16 yards per reception.

This week the Broncos will host the Los Angeles Rams and their high-powered offense. The Broncos will need to keep up with the best offense in the league, and may even be able to against what has turned out to be just an average defense according to our power rankings. Plus, each team to face the Rams over the last three weeks have had a wide receiver score two touchdowns in that match -- David Moore, Aldrick Robinson and Mike Williams. None of those players were their respective teams' WR1s, and neither is Sutton.

The Broncos will have to ride Sutton to keep up in this game, and he's going to help by scoring two touchdowns.
