Week 7 Game Scripts to Target in Daily Fantasy Football
San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams
Over/Under: 52.5
Rams Implied Team Total: 31.25
Niners Implied Team Total: 21.25
Is this 10-point line an ode to Sean McVay or disrespectful to Kyle Shanahan? Is it both? The Los Angeles Rams are pretty clearly the best team in football, but San Francisco deserves a ton of credit for not rolling over without Jimmy Garoppolo. The C.J. Beathard-led 49ers have surpassed thieir implied team total twice in three tries, with both instances coming on the road. Similar to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Rams are a rising tide of offense that raises all ships, evidenced by allowing 26.25 points per game, and especially so with shutdown corner Aqib Talib (ankle) still out.
C.J. Beathard, QB, San Francisco 49ers
FanDuel Price: $6,400
No, really, I'm serious. Beathard scored 19.82 points in Week 4, and in Week 5, he was the QB6. Last week, Beathard again displayed a 19-point floor. He has 47 rushing yards through 3 games, a solid base, while the Rams have allowed fantasy-viable performances to Case Keenum, Russell Wilson, and Kirk Cousins in three straight weeks without Talib. With Marquise Goodwin finally healthy and balling out, Beathard is a legitimate GPP punt this week.
Todd Gurley, RB, Los Angeles Rams
FanDuel Price: $10,200
It's wild that Gurley's price is above $10,000, and we still have to jam him into lineups whenever possible. But that's the case given his monstrous usage between the twenties and in the red zone for the league's best offense. Cooper Kupp's absence further elevates Gurley's target projection and touch floor. The 49ers deserve credit for playing solid run defense, but the cracks started to show against Aaron Jones last week, and we're still betting on the Rams running game to win this matchup. There's not much more to say.
Others to Consider
Wade Phillips' defenses have always prioritized stopping the pass over the run. That's why the Rams are allowing a nice 4.69 yards per carry despite impressive defensive line personnel. Matt Breida ($6,200) just saw a season-high 14 touches and has clearly established himself as the 1A in this offense. The Niners' offensive line surprisingly grades out as the second-best run blocking line in the league, per Football Outsiders. Breida is an intriguing GPP option with certain low ownership.
The Rams have been getting stung by outside receivers with Talib out. Goodwin ($5,500) finally showed up for the party last week, and his big-play ability/price combination makes him a fine GPP play. But he still only saw five targets, making him an easy avoid in cash. George Kittle ($6,400) should bounce back after a 30-yard outing, but his matchup doesn't stand out as particularly attractive.
The Niners have a very exploitable pass defense, and we know the Rams are a pass offense to target every week, with Kupp's injury narrowing an already slim target tree. Robert Woods ($7,700) is the better cash option, while Brandin Cooks ($7,500) makes for an exciting GPP play coming off a down week. Jared Goff ($8,300) is a high-floor cash option.
