5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 8
James Conner Posted Another 30-Point Game
The Cleveland Browns will be glad that they've got their two matches against the Pittsburgh Steelers out of the way as they'll no doubt be sick of the sight of Steelers running back James Conner.
Conner rushed for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Browns in Week 8, adding a further 66 yards on 5 receptions. In their two meetings in 2018, Conner has rushed for 281 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding 10 receptions for another 123 yards.
Conner amassed 38.2 PPR points against the Browns this past Sunday, his third 30-point game of the season (and second against the Browns). Conner is one of only six first- or second-year running backs to have at least three games with 30-plus PPR points in the first eight weeks of a season since 1999. Devonta Freeman had four back in 2015.
Week 8 was also the third game in a row in which Conner had at least 100 rushing yards and 2 rushing scores, making him the first player to achieve this feat since Chris Johnson back in 2009.
It won't be easy for Conner to continue this run of form in Week 9 as the Steelers take on the Baltimore Ravens in a tough road game. Back in Week 4, the Ravens held Conner to his season-low clips in rushing attempts (9), receptions (3) and total yards (44).
