Andrew Luck Tosses 3 Scores -- Again

The Indianapolis Colts kept on rolling with a convincing 38-10 win over the Tennessee Titans. They owe much of their success to their talismanic quarterback, Andrew Luck, who continues to shake off his slow start to the season by putting up excellent numbers during Indy's hot run.

Luck threw three touchdown passes on Sunday, the seventh game in a row with at least three scores for Luck. This is the third-longest such streak in NFL history, trailing only Peyton Manning (eight games in 2004) and Tom Brady (10 in 2007). Luck’s third touchdown on Sunday gave him 161 for his career, the second-most by a quarterback in their first 80 games. (Dan Marino had 182.) Luck was ridiculously efficient on a per-play basis on Sunday, finishing with 0.83 Passing NEP per Drop Back, according to our metrics. Only Drew Brees (1.08) finished with a better clip last week among all quarterbacks with at least 20 pass attempts.

Luck’s form has been possible thanks in no small part to his protection. The Colts' quarterback has not been sacked a single time over his last five games, with 214 pass attempts since his last sack. This is the longest streak from a quarterback since 1991, when Washington quarterback Mark Rypien went 252 pass attempts without a sack. Luck and the Colts take on the Miami Dolphins next week, and Miami has just 17 sacks all season, tied for fourth-fewest in the NFL.
