5 NFL Red Zone Trends to Monitor for Week 12

With the small sample sizes involved with red zone play calling each week, we're finally starting to build up some large, reliable numbers for squads. Some teams, though, are still giving us small samples because of how few red zone plays they've run this year.

Still looking at this on a per-game basis, since there are still two more teams who need to have their bye week, we see six teams running at least 11 red zone plays per game: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11.0), New England Patriots (11.0), Houston Texans (11.0), Indianapolis Colts (11.7), Los Angeles Rams (14.1) and New Orleans Saints (15.0).

On the other side, the bottom-five is made up of the teams you'd probably expect: the Buffalo Bills (6.9), Jacksonville Jaguars (6.8), New York Jets (6.1), Arizona Cardinals (5.8) and Miami Dolphins (5.0).

The league average sits at 9.1 red zone plays per game. The average for pass-to-run ratio inside the 20 is 1.23-to-1.

The teams that exceed that ratio by the most are the New York Giants (1.63-to-1), Cincinnati Bengals (1.64), Jacksonville Jaguars (1.72), Green Bay Packers (1.86) and Minnesota Vikings (2.15).

The least pass-happy teams have been the Tennessee Titans (0.91-to-1), Carolina Panthers (0.86), New York Jets (0.85), Washington (0.82) and the Buffalo Bills (0.77).
