8 Fantasy Football Sleepers for Week 12

Tre'Quan Smith, WR, New Orleans Saints

Can a player be a "sleeper" after exploding for 31.7 fantasy points in a game? The fact that Tre'Quan Smith is owned in under 50% of leagues says "yes".

This isn't even the first time Smith has shown his huge fantasy ceiling either, having also gone off for 25 fantasy points in Week 5. He's not usually a high-volume player, making his fantasy production volatile, but we have seen his ceiling come through in multiple ways.

The first big game he had was all about efficiency -- he saw only 3 targets but caught all 3 for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns. The second explosion was volume-based, seeing a team-high 13 targets, catching 10 of them for 157 yards and 1 score.

He's in an incredibly fantasy-friendly spot on Thursday against the Falcons, in a game with that same huge over/under that I referenced for Ito Smith. The Saints are huge 13-point favorites in that one, and their 36.25-point implied total is almost a full touchdown higher than anyone else on the week, with the next-best mark sitting at 30.0. This is an offense to get exposure to.

Smith did miss Tuesday's practice with a foot injury, so be sure to monitor his health before locking him in your lineup. If he doesn't play, Austin Carr, who played 44% of the team's snaps last week, would get a big boost in value, becoming a great sleeper option in this same matchup.
