Josh Allen Can Seriously Run

Two weeks, 225 rushing yards. Josh Allen had a slow start to his career in the NFL but it looks like he's finally hitting his stride -- as a runner.

The Buffalo Bills' first-round pick has been flying on the ground since recovering from an elbow injury that kept him sidelined for almost half the season. Through the first six weeks of the season Allen rushed the ball occasionally -- he had 35 rushes for 155 yards for an average of roughly 6 attempts and just over 25 yards per game. It wasn't a lot, but any quarterback that can add a rushing floor is worth consideration in most fantasy leagues.

What we didn't realize was just how high his ceiling as a rusher was. In the last two games he's been running all over the place -- and all over other teams. Despite playing only half the season, Allen now has the third-most rushing yards among quarterbacks in 2018. He's giving fantasy players a rushing floor almost as high as Cam Newton on the season level, but recently he's even surpassed Newton.

That rushing floor has even given him an enormous ceiling. Allen's crazy 135 rushing yards in Week 13 was good enough to land him a spot as the second-best fantasy quarterback on the week. And the previous week his 90-yard game was good for a fourth-best finish.

He's still sorting stuff out in the passing game -- despite a cannon of an arm, he's been more than just a little inconsistent -- but Allen's legs give him an almost unparalleled advantage in fantasy football. He may be one of the riskiest starts in the league, but his rushing production means you have to consider starting Allen on your fantasy teams.
