Another wild week of NFL action is in the books, complete with miracle plays, atrocious refereeing and moments of individual brilliance or lunacy. So, just like any other week really.
The New Orleans Saints clinched the NFC West title after their victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, giving them back-to-back division titles for the first time in franchise history.
MVP front-runner Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 27-24 overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens, in doing so securing a postseason berth for a fourth straight season.
Cam Newton and Julio Jones both saw their teams lose on Sunday, but both were able to celebrate historical milestones. Newton is only the second quarterback in NFL history -- Peyton Manning's the other -- with 3,000 or more passing yards in each of his first eight seasons. Jones went over 1,400 yards receiving for the fifth season in a row, marking the longest such streak in NFL history and surpassing Marvin Harrison, who had four such seasons from 1999 to 2002.
Two more quarterbacks set new NFL records on Sunday. Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes to take him to 582 combined regular season and playoff scores, the most in NFL history. But he lost a record to Aaron Rodgers, who has now gone 368 passes since his last interception. This is the longest streak in NFL history, besting Brady’s 358 back in 2010-2011.
