5 NFL Red Zone Trends to Monitor for Week 15

While looking at the entire season gives us a nice sample-size for how teams have been calling plays in the red zone, there are a couple of teams with recent numbers that you should take note of.

Since Lamar Jackson took over at quarterback, the Baltimore Ravens have a 0.44-to-1 pass-to-run ratio inside the 20 -- a mark that would be a league-low by a big margin over the entire season. With Joe Flacco at the helm, they had a 1.20-to-1 ratio. The look of their red zone offense, and the touchdown upside available for their pass-catchers, will rely heavily on who starts in Week 15.

The Jacksonville Jaguars got incredibly pass-heavy in the red zone from Week 5 to Week 9 with Leonard Fournette out, calling 24 pass plays to only 4 runs (6.00-to-1 ratio). Since his Week 10 return, though, that has come way down to a 0.64-to-1 ratio, with 18 pass plays and 28 run plays.

Overall, the five most pass-heavy teams have been the Minnesota Vikings (2.06-to-1), Green Bay Packers (1.91), Atlanta Falcons (1.72), Pittsburgh Steelers (1.69) and Indianapolis Colts (1.69).

The five most run-heavy have been the Buffalo Bills (0.70), Baltimore Ravens (0.86), Carolina Panthers (0.89), Tennessee Titans (0.92) and Washington (0.94).

There's also a huge difference in total number of plays run between the top and bottom teams. The only four teams with at least 140 red zone plays are the Kansas City Chiefs (149), New England Patriots (156), Los Angeles Rams (168) and New Orleans Saints (182).

The fewest have been run by the Cleveland Browns (90), New York Jets (86), Arizona Cardinals (70) and Miami Dolphins (68).
