Cleveland Browns - Drew Stanton

Cap Savings: $2 million

Dead Money: $2 million

The Cleveland Browns have a young and talented roster along with an abundance of cap space, so they don’t need to be making many tough decisions with regards their roster ahead of 2019. One area that they may want to look at is the quarterbacks behind Baker Mayfield. The contract of Tyrod Taylor will void five days after the Super Bowl, leaving Drew Stanton as the only player with experience behind Mayfield.

Stanton was not required to throw a single pass in 2018 and paying him $4 million to do nothing seems like a waste of money. Stanton hasn’t exactly done much when given the opportunity over the years, being the proud owner of 52.4% completion percentage along with 20 touchdowns to 24 interceptions.

Keeping him around won’t bankrupt the Browns, as we mentioned. But this does seem to be a situation in which the team could benefit from bringing in either a cheaper veteran or a late rounder from the draft.
