Atlanta Falcons - Mohammed Sanu

Cap Savings: $4.6 million

Dead Money: $2.8 million

Mohamed Sanu has been a steady performer for the Atlanta Falcons since signing as a free agent prior to the 2016 season. His three seasons have brought him 192 receptions for 2,194 yards with 13 touchdowns. He has also thrown two touchdown passes in this time, giving him a career mark of seven completions, 233 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Only Julio Jones saw more targets than Sanu’s 94 for the Falcons this past year, although rookie Calvin Ridley was just 2 targets behind. Sanu was one of the most efficient wide receivers in the NFL when targeted last season, with the 8th-best Target NEP per target and the 14th-highest Reception NEP per target at the position among qualified players.

Sanu’s play has been good enough to warrant the team sticking with him, but the Falcons spent a first-round pick on Ridley last year and are liking looking to him to be their number-two wideout in 2019. Given Atlanta has just under $24 million in cap space next year, only 40 players under contract and Grady Jarrett in need of an extension, Sanu could be view as expendable.
