Dynasty Fantasy Football: 6 Buy-Low Targets for This Offseason

Mariota and Jameis Winston will likely always be paired together after they were selected atop the 2015 NFL Draft. As fate would have it, they're in similar spots heading into 2019 -- each has failed to deliver on the promise they showed early in their careers, and they need to deliver in the final year of their rookie contracts.

Unlike Mariota, though, Winston was a pretty darn good fantasy quarterback in 2018, so it's hard to grasp why he's priced at QB23 -- and that's before we even take into account the Buccaneers hiring of offensive-minded coach Bruce Arians.

Winston had a weird 2018, playing in 11 games and starting just nine due to the combination of his four-game ban and Ryan Fitzpatrick's early-season explosion. When Winston played, he put up good numbers. His 64.8% completion percentage was a career-best mark as was his 71.8 QBR. Fantasy-wise, he was a top-15 signal caller in six of his nine starts, meaning he was plenty viable in one-quarterback formats.

In addition to that, the Bucs have assembled a solid group of pass-game weapons around Winston -- Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and O.J. Howard -- as well as the hire of Arians, a lover of the vertical passing game who resurrected the career of Carson Palmer and seems like a pretty great fit with Winston. Plus, the Bucs' cross-conference foes in 2019 will be the AFC South, a division which had just one pass D (Jacksonville) that ranked in the top-15 this last season, per our schedule-adjusted metrics.

Maybe there's some trepidation with Winston due to his off-the-field issues and the fear that he may not have a starting job in 2020 if he flops in his contract campaign this coming fall. But for a guy going into his age-25 season -- younger than Carson Wentz (QB8, per ADP) and Jimmy Garoppolo (QB13) -- who has proven to be a solid fantasy producer, Winston is awfully cheap right now.
