JJ Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Stanford

While JJ Arcega-Whiteside is unlikely to blaze a superb time in the 40-yard dash, his size and contested catch ability should attract plenty of pro teams. Aside from limited wheels, Arcega-Whiteside didn't break out in a big way until his senior season at Stanford. Be mindful that history has proven that late-blooming collegiate players have a far more difficult time making it as pros. However, we should be encouraged that the native of Spain made very steady progress over his three collegiate seasons.

There are plenty of good things to draw on from Arcega-Whiteside's senior campaign. He was the third-best overall wide receiver, as graded by PFF, and finished inside the top-five in converting contested catches. Additionally, Arcega-Whiteside was top-10 in explosive plays of 20 yards or more. Indeed, no receiver had a better catch rate on deep passes in 2018.

At 6'3", 225 pounds, good physical comparisons for such big wideouts like Arcega-Whiteside are limited to Josh Gordon and Quincy Enunwa. Unable to blaze past defenders, Arcega-Whiteside might find success in a big slot role where he can bully defenders for contested catches. Either way, Arcega-Whiteside can answer a lot of questions about his physical traits at the combine. Should he struggle, a move to tight end might be in store for the son of two professional basketball players.
