Vincent Jackson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

For many owners, Vincent Jackson was drafted to be their top wide receiver. A three-point Week 1 was likely not what they were expecting.

The Tampa Bay offense was a mess for almost the entire game, struggling to block for Josh McCown and never really testing the Panthers secondary downfield. Despite all the offseason talk about McCown throwing jump balls to his tall targets, he simply didn’t have the time in the pocket to work downfield routes.

Jackson didn’t help much, either, dropping several passes that could have made his game a tad more palatable. Tampa couldn’t run the football, which rendered the play-action game irrelevant and had them consistently behind the chains. This was a disaster from the start. At this point in the season, Jackson has a comparable NEP to the Baltimore Raven's Kamar Aiken.

Is Jackson still a talented receiver? Absolutely. But without significant improvements from the players around him, we may never see the type of consistency you would want from a top option. He will have several fantastic games, but will also have plenty of duds like he had on Sunday. Though that's not abnormal for V-Jax.

Recommendation: Owners should look to sell any members of the Buccaneer offense as soon as they have a good game. Hopefully that will happen while you still have playoff hopes. Jackson is a guy who could have a few big games, but this is an offense that just looks terrible up front.
