Another collective groan occurred as Tony DelSignore pounced on Eddie Royal,who is looking to be another draft day steal. While rookie Kevin White continues to recover from injury, the buzz is growing between Royal and former Denver teammate Jay Cutler and is becoming hard to ignore. Royal should serve as Cutler's main short to intermediate target just like their Denver days where Royal amassed 980 yards on 91 receptions. Eddie Royal is a player to keep an eye on.
Julius Thomas leaves an offense that saw 3.7 red zone attempts per game (tied for seventh-most in the league) to Jacksonville's lowly 2.0 red zone attempts per game (31st). Thomas, a red zone nightmare for opponents, might not be provided as many opportunities. He was being drafted as the second tight end off the board entering last year, but now he's behind six other tight ends on average. Our projections echo that sentiment. He's our seventh ranked tight end, and we project him to score 7 touchdowns compared to the 12 he's scored the past two seasons.
More tight ends followed in this round, including potential breakout star Tyler Eifert. After an injury during Week 1 last season, Eifert missed the remaining part of 2014, and drafters now seem to be overlooking the entire Cincinnati offense as a whole. Eifert is a prime stash candidate and could pay immediate dividends as the Bengals' second most targeted receiver.
