6 Players Worth Reaching for in Your Fantasy Football Drafts

Charles Johnson may still be a relative unknown to much of the fantasy world, but that will change this year.

And if I’m in need of a serious upside pick in the sixth round -- particularly if I’ve heavily invested in running backs early in my draft -- I’m looking his way.

First, Johnson’s size and speed combination is ridiculous. Standing at 6’2” and weighing 217 pounds, Johnson managed to clock a 4.39 40-yard dash at his Pro Day in 2013. His broad and vertical jump measurements each exceeded the 89th percentile among wide receivers in his class.

But Johnson isn’t just an athletic specimen. In fact, Teddy Bridgewater’s second-half emergence was due in large part to the connection he developed with Johnson, who was efficient when targeted, accumulating a decent 0.73 Reception NEP per target.

Reports out of training camp all point to Johnson being Bridgewater’s go-to receiver, even with the addition of Mike Wallace.

And lest we not forget the return of Adrian Peterson, who has always produced at an incredible level. And opposing teams will be made to pick their poison. My money’s on them being more worried about the damage Peterson can do than what Bridgewater can do via the pass. This will only help Johnson and the share of quality targets he'll receive.

Finally, the Vikings only have five matchups in 2015 against top-10 teams at defending wide receivers. In other words, Johnson’s matchup slate is looking juicy.

With an impressive young quarterback, the return of Peterson, the acquisition of Wallace, and a soft schedule in terms of opposing teams’ secondaries, the stars are aligning for Johnson to have a big year.

Since I don't want to watch someone with his potential snagged right before me, I’ll invest a mid- to late-sixth round pick in him comfortably.
