The story of the Dallas Cowboys defense last year was basically that they turned out not to be nearly as bad as everyone expected them to be, but the grind-it-out philosophy helped mask a still-inefficient unit.

They ranked 23rd in per-play passing defense, according to our NEP metrics, and they ranked 32nd in fantasy points allowed to tight ends, too.

Last year, Donnell had some big games that inflated his end-of-the-year standings. Still, he's worked on his blocking and did play the 10th-most snaps per game among the position. A red zone threat with the best fantasy matchup possible (as far as we know before the season kicks off), Donnell is worth a shot if you're looking for a touchdown from a tight end given the spread (Cowboys by 5.5) and over/under (51.5).
