Dallas Cowboys Passing Game
If you had to guess, which team would you think finished last season ranked second in Adjusted Passing NEP per play, trailing only those Packers? The Denver Broncos? New England Patriots? Indianapolis Colts? Nah, fam. It was Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys.
Now, some of that is undoubtedly linked to DeMarco Murray, who defected to a team which we shall touch on later. I'm not trying to say that their passing efficiency won't take a hit with Murray gone, but several of the key components that brought them there are still around, namely Romo, Dez Bryant, and that filthy offensive line.
While they weren't terrible, the New York Giants did finish 2014 ranked 22nd in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play in 2014. Now, they're without Jason Pierre-Paul to disrupt the pass, meaning Romo could have an abundance of time to have his way. That means great things for the Cowboys' offense.
When it comes to daily fantasy, this means I'm all about that Dez life. He's the fourth most expensive wide receiver on FanDuel, but with an over/under of 51.5 and the Cowboys 7-point favorites, there will be touchdowns. You could be scared off by the big spread, thinking it could force the Cowboys to favor the run. But in order to protect a big lead, you first must build a big lead. The most likely route to that is through throwing up the X.
Additionally, this means the other options in the Cowboys' offense should be solid options. I prefer my tight ends to come from games with high over/unders, meaning Jason Witten is intriguing. He's the fifth most expensive tight end on FanDuel, but he's a good candidate for a touchdown and some solid targets.
At receiver, Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley are $5,300 and $5,000 respectively on FanDuel. It's hard to sort out who will get the lion's share of targets, making them riskier for cash games, but they both have high upside in tourneys. The Cowboys seem to be digging what Devin Street has done over the offseason, and he is minimum priced on FanDuel, but just know that you're taking a huge risk that he could flop and get zero targets despite the positive matchup.
