Tight End: Martellus Bennett

Martellus Bennett, TE, Chicago Bears
11 Receptions, 83 Yards, 13 Targets, 1 TD
NEP: +9.95

It was mentioned last week, but for those of you skimming through, I'll highlight it even more with it's own paragraph this time:

Target tight ends playing against the Raiders.

The Raiders have now allowed another elite tight end performance, and they've faced the 1st-, 2nd-, 1st-, and 1st-ranked NEP performances among tight ends in the first four weeks. They've faced the 2nd-, 1st-, 2nd-, and 1st-best fantasy performances, too. Just do it.

Martellus Bennett was no exception to this rule, finishing first in both categories as he hauled in 11 receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown. A late boost for his value was quarterback Jay Cutler returning from injury, as Cutler completed more than 65% of his passes for 281 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Bennett was routinely open as he burned Oakland's linebackers trying to keep with him in coverage. On his first pass of the game, Cutler found Bennett for a big 24-yard gain as the pocket collapsed on him. That set the tone early for how this passing attack would orchestrate. Bennett and Cutler had the quick out working in full effect this week. Bennett even had two screen passes dialed up, taking one 14 yards on a 3rd-and-13. Finishing as this week's fantasy point leader at the position, Bennett was once again a big part of the Chicago offense as he's now seen 24.2% of his team's targets go his direction.

The rest of the tight end group was led by Charles Clay who had a phenomenal week connecting with Tyrod Taylor nine times. He had a 10th reception called back on a big 4th quarter touchdown that was nullified by a Richie Incognito chop-block. Coby Fleener took advantage of a Dwayne Allen-less Colts offense racking up 13 targets. Gary Barnidge made it two straight weeks in the top five with some big momentum-changing plays against the Chargers.
