DraftKings Daily Fantasy Football Helper for Week 12
Running Backs
High-Cost Option: Devonta Freeman $8,300
This pick obviously hinges on Devonta Freeman passing the NFL's concussion protocol, but Freeman -- despite the lofty price $8,300 price tag -- still represents one of the highest ceilings among running backs. The Vikings rank in the middle of the pack in both rushing yards allowed per game (110.1) and by numberFire's schedule-adjusted rushing defense metrics. Freeman's receiving element provides him a unique ceiling, catching nearly six passes a game since taking over as the starter. PPR scoring always makes a player seeing that type of volume in the receiving game and his 20-plus carries per game since starting a viable option.
Mid-Cost Option: Chris Ivory $5,800
Miami is giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs and travels to New York to once again try slowing down Chris Ivory. In their previous matchup in London, Ivory ran 29 times for 166 yards steamrolling the Dolphins and picking up 25.6 fantasy points in the process. The Dolphins are allowing the second-most rushing yards per game and enter this week's matchup as 3.5-point road underdogs. The Jets have been able to re-establish their running game as of late and will look to build upon their recent success with Ivory once again leading the charge.
Low-Cost Option: Chris Johnson $4,600
Double-digit favorites aren't always a common phenomena in today's NFL. Chris Johnson gets that honor this week as 10-point favorites against San Francisco and could see huge volume if they're able to milk the clock at the end of the game. Johnson is already seeing a ridiculous 65.7% of his team's carries (fifth-highest among all running backs) and will likely have his number called often in this week's matchup. The 49ers are giving up the second-most fantasy points to opposing running backs, and Johnson presents terrific value at just $4,600.
GPP Wildcard: Eddie Lacy $4,700
It probably seems like a trap buying Eddie Lacy this week, but the price, opponent, and potential ceiling represent an affordable risk to take some exposure in him. Lacy is at his lowest price of the season (for good reason), but after a 100-yard outing last week, there's reason for optimism. The Bears are ranked in the middle of the pack in fantasy points allowed, but Lacy has already shown he can defeat this defense. In Week 1, Lacy had 20-plus touches for 99 total yards and a score for 17.9 fantasy points. Repeating those statistics against an even more beat up Chicago defense shouldn't be too tall a task for Lacy, and at $4,700, he presents a unique opportunity to far exceed value.
GPP Bonus Wildcard: Giovani Bernard $4,500
One of the highly projected one-sided games on Week 12's slate is the Bengals at home against the Rams this week. Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill are nearly neck and neck in touches on the year (139 for Bernard, 132 for Hill), but if I'm ceiling chasing in GPP's, I like the upside Bernard presents as a multi-faceted player. The Rams rank in the middle of the pack in both fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs and rushing yards but have given up the seventh-most receptions to the position. Bernard only has two touchdowns on the season, and we can expect the coaching staff would likely get him going in what projects to be a one-sided game.
