5 Daily Fantasy Football Matchups to Exploit in Week 14
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Rushing Offense
This recommendation is going to function in a similar function to last week's endorsement of DeAngelo Williams. If Doug Martin is under 15 percent owned on Thursday's slates, invest in him. If he's higher than that, then things change a bit, and we'll cover that shortly. Either way, you need exposure to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offense.
Everyone is aware of the New Orleans Saints' deficiencies against the pass, as they rank 32nd in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play. However, they also sit 25th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play. If you put a defense on the road while they are struggling so mightily, the opposing offense figures to enter positive game script in a hurry, and that has been the case for the Saints this whole season.
Over their six road games this season, the Saints have allowed an average of 146 rushing yards per game, and that includes a 75-yard outing from the Indianapolis Colts. Washington has one of the worst rushing offenses imaginable, and they managed to post 209 yards on the ground when the Saints came to their crib. The Saints' rush defense isn't as bad as their pass defense, but it's still not pretty, y'all.
Martin hasn't been the world's most efficient runner, but he has been good enough to exploit this unit. He enters Week 14 ranked 11th in Rushing NEP per carry of the 39 running backs with at least 100 carries and 18th in Rushing Success Rate. He has multiple red-zone carries in 9 of 12 games this year, and he's playing enough snaps to put him in consideration for cash games and tourneys alike.
This isn't to say that Martin will come cheap. He's $8,000 on FanDuel and $6,200 on DraftKings, the second and fourth most expensive running back respectively for the Sunday to Monday slate. He's going to need points to hit value, but I don't see that being an issue in this one.
Again, all of this is based on ownership. If Martin goes over 15 percent ownership, then I would start looking for other ways to get exposure to the Bucs' offense at lower ownership. You're not going to get that in Jameis Winston, Mike Evans, or Vincent Jackson, who I'd assume will all be some of the top options this week. So where do you go after that?
Given that he's only one week removed from returning from a shoulder injury, Austin Seferian-Jenkins may be that guy. His snap count was way too low last week for consideration in cash, but he has superb tournament upside. The Saints have allowed 10 touchdowns to tight ends this year, with three tight ends notching multiple scores. If he slides under the radar compared to the rest of the offense, then he needs to be high on your wish list.
