The 10 Best Fourth-Quarter Quarterbacks From the 2015 Season
If you're an avid football fan and you've watched Friday Night Lights, you may feel the same way I do about this.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some Friday Night Lights. I'm a member of Team Saracen. But why -- why -- did 90 percent of the games played on that show have to come down to some unlikely ending? Why was every game so close? I mean, the producers had to have known that, statistically, there's no way Coach Taylor would've had all of those fourth quarter comebacks.
Right?
I know, I know -- it's good television. No one cares about a game that ends 27-7. People care about an introverted backup quarterback who turns it up a notch almost every fourth quarter.
People love drama.
People love the fourth quarter.
And it's because the fourth quarter is where the game concludes -- it's where the game is won. So we magnify it. We make it a big deal.
Whether that's fair or not depends on who you ask, but there's no debating that it matters.
Especially for quarterbacks.
So with that being said, let's take a look at the best fourth-quarter passers from the 2015 season. To help, we'll be ranking -- from 10 to 1 -- by our Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, looking at quarterbacks (31 of them) who threw 80 or more fourth-quarter passes (5 per game). If you need a little background on what NEP is all about, check out our glossary.
Let's get at it.
